Plantar Spitz Nevus Resembling Malignant Melanoma: Description of Immunohistochemical Findings
نویسندگان
چکیده
Spitz nevus (SN) is predominantly distributed throughout the lower extremities, while an acral location rare. Since SN occasionally resembles clinicopathological presentation of malignant melanoma (MM), it presents a diagnostic challenge, especially on glabrous skin. Past reports suggest that several genetic aberrations are associated with specific subtypes melanocytic tumors. Immunohistochemistry can provide clue to presence or absence molecular aberration typical We describe case plantar analysis, including anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK), ROS proto-oncogene 1 (ROS1), BRAF (V600E) protein, and BRCA1-associated protein-1 (BAP1). However, we were not able detect characteristic gene aberration. To best our knowledge, no in cases have been reported. A comprehensive understanding tumor genomics expected play essential role classification Further research required establish new criteria for distinguishing between MM.

Spitz nevus with an uncertain malignant potential.
We present the case of 10-year-old girl who have had from birth a plane tumor, of tan color, 3-4 mm of diameter, localized on the face on the cutaneous part of the superior lip. This tumor has been stabile until 8-year-old. Then, after repeated sunlight exposures, the lesion has become more stark, hemispheric in shape, has increased in size becoming about 5-6 mm, with irregular borders, and aft...

Differentiating Spitz nevus from malignant melanoma is difficult and controversial. Despite helpful lists of differential diagnostic features, uncertainty about the diagnosis often provokes some to stain the tumor for MIB-1 antibody to Ki-67 and measure the proliferation index (PI) of the tumor. Of the many reports about MIB-1 PI in Spitz nevi and melanoma, none have consolidated the informatio...
متن کاملAcral pigmented spitz nevus that clinically mimicked acral lentiginous malignant melanoma.
Pigmented Spitz nevus is a benign melanocytic skin lesion with distinct clinical features and it is frequently found on the extremities. However, it rarely occurs on acral area of the body, and such a case has not yet been fully documented. We present a case of acral pigmented Spitz nevus occurring on the foot, and this mimicked acral lentiginous malignant melanoma. Clinicians should be well aw...
متن کاملEpidermotropic Metastatic Melanoma Clinically Resembling Agminated Spitz Nevi
Herein, we report a 36-year-old Asian male patient who presented with grouped multiple erythematous waxy papules and nodules on his right medial thigh. He had undergone amputation of the right second toe because of a stage IIa malignant melanoma, 3 years previously. At the time of surgery for the primary tumor, right inguinal lymph node dissection revealed no nodal involvement. Three years afte...
متن کاملAngiomatoid Spitz Nevus.
Spitz nevus is a variant of melanocytic nevus which is histopathologically defined as large spindle and/or epithelioid cells. Angiomatoid Spitz nevus is a rare histologic variant of desmoplastic Spitz nevus characterized by prominent vasculature. We present a case of angiomatoid Spitz nevus, celluar type, that has not been reported before. We provide another example to show the remarkable diver...
